I had a copy of Dog Wizard by Barbara Hambly in the car on Sun - something to read while Z was pawing through second hand goods. Unfortunately he picked it up while I was in the pharmacy stocking up on the "ignore plants shagging" drugs. Conversation will resume when he has finished reading it...

At least he got the fire going, so I had a nice warm room to settle in with Jekyll (good series - worth seeing).

Other random observations:
Garage kittens (there are three) are cute, growing and squirming, though they have not yet opened their eyes. Don't see much of their mum but she does seem to be feeding them etc.

Bought plants on Sunday: bay laurels for hedging and sound insulation, raspberry canes and thornless blackberry canes, a bigger rosemary, cherry tomatoes and a couple capsicum. They are currently living inside away from the hail/sleet.

Jack (parent's cat) has settled in fine. Is happy with sleeping on sheepskin, either the one on the chair or the one in front of the fire. Vocally demands attention when he feels it is due, moves slowly and purrs loudly, especially when brushed. In short, contented old cat.

In sewing news, the blackwork ruff progresses. Over half way now, but that still means just under half to go.

Not much else to report.
