I have two very insistant cockatoos headbutting my window at the momment - one on the ledge and one who has just jumped down from the frame. However they got given their parrot seed quota earlier and are not getting any more for the day.

Cold last night - it was down to -0.5 degrees by 10pm last night, and was -4 degrees when we got up around 7am this morning NB This was at the airport and where we are tends to be a degree or two colder based on the ABC news weather reports. Definite sunshine but that air really doesn't hold the heat.

Long weekend of not very much done. Didn't end up doing fireworks as the prices were expensive, the packaging crap and (in Z's opinion) unsafe, and the fireworks quite dodgy - they still sell buzzy bees over here which have been illegal in NZ for a while. Heard lots of bangs at various times but never actually saw any fire works. Oh well.

Other than that, lots of lounging round, typing up the books to get rid of list, and sorting, rotoating and relabling photos. Not exactly action packed and exciting but relaxing. Long rambly messages back and forth to K via Skype.

Unfortunately now need to start assembling the "stuff to be done" lists and get a move on.

Z spent his weekend clearing other peoples junk and with his head buried in George RR Martin's Feast of Crows. 3 days for that door stop. Still haven't finished #3 myself, so wont delve into that now. Apparently the verdict was interesting and well written enough to keep you going once you are in, but a bit overly complicated and annoying once you emerge and think about it.

Time to get N correct.

GOT IT!

It's here!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Ancient Danish Textiles from Bogs and Burials - the one you have heard me drooling/angsting over/tracking down over the past few months...)
Mmmmmmm mine to drool over - for a little while at least. Don't worry I have a sponge handy and wouldn't dream of getting any on the book.
Looks like a copy from Melbourne - maybe the National Gallery and ANU don't talk, though I thought it would have been closer ie across the lake...
And in case you are wondering, yes I am running a stellar spectrum generation program at the momment, so am technically working and in about 3 min I can legitimately start reading as I run for the bus.

I may not pay attention to much else this evening...

Edit: Ok, not based on the number of other entries I have made this evening. Maybe it is just as well I just finished one project before playing with more types of naalbinding.

So, before getting in a car with a near stranger, it seemed a good idea to sit in a stationary vehicle and remember which was the brake, accelerator and clutch and how to start the sucker. Didn't go anywhere - we have a steep driveway that would need to be reversed out and the back windscreen was frozen - visability when driving is your friend. But started the car, listened to noises wrt clutch engagement, turned her off and played with the gears a little. Then went inside cause it was COLD*.
But I think I remember the basics from when I last trundled over Festival site (March...)

Would have been a longer practice but Z has homework from his first aid course and is currently reviewing his first aid kid. They get to play hide the corpses rescue people out near the airport tommorrow.

Time to get some work done on the shirt. Side and hem to go.

*It was -4 degrees in town and -6 at our end this morning. Forecast is for -5 tonight, so may be -7 here... Yay wool coif and flockarti rug. Boo to actually having to get up.

Finished shirt now:)
Just the one pic cause we can't find any batteries... )
Now I need another hand sewing project... other than the naalbinding.
