Interesting to note the historical recipe from the Australian National War Memorial with the original Arnott's recipe.
Maybe more comments when I try one.
And given how long I have taken to write this, the first one worked well - towards the chewy, rather than crisp end, which was what I was aiming for. Used rye flour (1c rather than 1/2 cause I wasn't paying attention to the right recipe) and raw sugar. Will remember not turn burn the lot currenty in the oven.
Further edit: bugger, they crispen up upon cooling. Still pretty good though.
