The roof possums appear to have installed a Playstation... At least that is the main way of explaining the muted booms/chuffs and shrieks and hisses. At least this time it is on the roof, around 8pm, but it is very loud through the open kitchen window and the neighbour's dog is attempting to get in on the action.

Finally cut out a leather satchel, basedon the dimensions of an extant book satchel (12" by 13" by 2 1/2", which is a fairly good size). Now realizing that doing a pair of shoes would have involved piercing less holes. Oh well, this was going to be an experiment to see if I have the arm/hand strength to do this. We shall see how things are after tonight, as I still have the main body of leather holes to go. Unfortunately the leather isn't vege tan, so can't be embossed/pressed with knotwork like the originals, but that would just be a good time waster. I may paint designs on later, although the regular rectangular knotwork used does make things a little too celtoid.

Green wool washes up and felts nicely, but there is no salvage, so more sewing may be neccesary for cloaks. Suprisingly nice combo of grey warp and green/yellow weft.

Need to find time to go and see Tristan and Isolde. Ok, so I suspect it may be "First Knight"ified or horribly "Arthur"ed, but I still want to see it. I should possibly kick all thoughts of FREN 110 (Medieval Arthurian Romance) and Bereul's Roman de Tristan (Yay 12th C lit) and Diana Paxon's version "The White Raven" from my brain though. I will lay bets that they skip the leper*.

Time to poke holes.

* "I swear that no man ever came between my thighs except the leper who carried me on his back across the ford and my husband, King Mark."

Nothing like publically making sure you can't swear wrong...

Now this one is pretty:)
Online gallery from an exhibit of over 200 book bindings.

One linen ho has been sewn (stocking really - about 6 hours to cut out and hand sew, includign all the flat felled seams etc), and the next has been cut out and started. Yay to that progress.

Sat afternoon was spen sewing said ho and the evening, happily blobbing in front of 2005 movie Pride and Prejudice... Mmmmmm, warm fuzzy glow and happy.

Today: unproductive Trash and Treasure, floor clearing and cleaning, photography, 2nd ho start, and tent doors cut out. Yay to tent progress, even if it is just cutting things out.

Nasty hot weather: 32 degrees yesterday and 33 degrees today. It is supposed to be Autumn damn it. Same forecast for tommorrow too. Hmph. Hope we get some rain in April.

Time to start on leather pilgrim scrip, based on early book satchel shapes (eg here... Lets see if we can have something useful to carry things in for festival. And at 10:20pm, still haven't found any thing substantial other than this info. So much for starting on that.

Instead, sleep now...
