Water water everywhere...
Sep. 22nd, 2004 03:53 pmAnd not a drop to drink... Especially not in a form of wavelengths, excitation potentials and other wonderful such details in the infrared for cool stars. You would think that given the amount of water around the place that we might know quite a bit about it, but no. Line lists that vaguely agree would be nice but are currently not attainable*. Bloody vibrations, rotations and generalized silly behaviour... Stars shouldn't play with water - its unnatural it is... or at least very inconvenient.
But at least yesterday at the zoo was fun. Oddly, live wombats look very similar to dead wombats appart from not having legs sticking up in the air. Mind you, that may be part of the sleeping in the middle of the day thing. Large furry snoring/deceased round arses generally look similar...
Want to find more parrots - had two cockatoos on the windowsill this morning and 3 green rosellas on the balcony outside the seminar room but they wouldn't oblige when Mum was here yesterday:( Oh well - Galas were fun... pink and grey wombling creaking things...
20 more min swearing at water should be survivable.
*And I would settle for the "most relied on sources" having an existent website...mumble mumble mumble
