I am sure I had a list of things I wanted to post/ask about when walking home from work:

Recommendations for an mp3 player (preferably 8 hour min battery life, not Ipod)? May become necessary in the new year.

And there may or may not have been the links to the YouTube video of the Plimouth jacket in action

There may have been other things as well. But they have vanished for the moment.

Instead I made it home, cooked dinner, washed dishes, some catching up on net stuff and then did a binge of Dollshouse watching. There was intent towards sewing, but that evaporated in favour of curling up in the beanbag, under a blanket while feeling lethargic and watching TV. Which does happen occasionally.

Time to actually sleep now.

Still all quiet.

Now I have woken up and can remember what I was thinking about

Main reason for not iPod is prefering not to be tied into their particular proprietory software and formating (and the relative cost compared to other models). Would prefer to just connect to computer via usb and handle as though it is a flash drive (which is the way I had been listening to music while working, but may soon no longer be an option).

We have an iRiver (T30, picked up 2005...) which is a good one but is no longer being retailed and does eat through AAA batteries... and lives in the car with Z as he listens to it while driving.

Looking around, the lithium/recargable batteries seem to the main ones now around I think recharging via USB connection (not certain what I think of that, but adapters are available). But having something that gies flat at work when I shouldn't connect via USB might be an issue.

Currently it is primarily music, but with ~40 min each way on the train, something that can display txt, jpgs or pdfs (ie some form of ebooks) would be a nice bonus but really unlikely given what I am willing to spend and is liable to be available over here.
