stellar_muddleHighlights: free fruit - banana passionfruit, cherries, plums... Yay to Nasal spray and far less hayfever than this time last year. Only had to double up once or twice.
Lowlights: Sore shoulder/neck. Don't remember doing anything to it but... ouch.
Boxing Day: Ferry sailing. Purple finger puppet bat cut out (back view)and sewn on ferry sailing. Late night swaggage by side of road a bit further south than we expected ~2am.
Sat 27 Dec: Drove south to Christchurch. Much distraction of banana passion fruit (only really the lower vines were ripe) and cherries (Conway River rest area, 3-4 trees, many many cherries), and Motonau Beach and a nap in Amberley. manus and co, then talkingfrog's birthday drinkies.
Sun 28 Dec: River Battle on the Avon - I watched safely from the sidelines, while Z teamed withjwm in a canoe. They only tipped over once... Much giggling from the audience, but just as well the keys were found. 1 single canoe and 5 double canoes battling, with 2 singles photographing from the danger zone. Others stayed on the banks photographing. Up to Z's parent's place.
Mon 29 Dec: I sewed and blobbed while Z shifted stuff. Quiet evening which may have involved metal detectors and not finding things if I remember correctly.
Tues 30 Dec: More sewing and blobbing and avoiding going forth into pollen territory unless necessary. Evening involved a walk and watching lights out on the Plains.
Weds 31 Dec: Z liked the grouping the muzzle loader was capable of. Eventual packing up and wandering back to Chch via Z uncle and family friends. Actual NW! rain (everything else had been warm and sunny up to this point). Pizza and New Years Party on a warm evening. Pumpkinned soon after midnight.
Thurs 1 Jan: Slept in. Departed Chch round noon, reached Nelson round 7:30pm. Uneventful in between apart from geological commentary. Dinner grumpage. Found nephew and gave him bat (and train set). Wombled off down the road, found swag stop and went thud for the night.
Fri 2 Jan: Early start (evil sandflies). Back to Nelson for petrol. Then on to Blenheim where there was salt acquirage and after much hunting, then lunch (things always work better after lunch), plums. Many plums. Beach further north for a while before site seeing round Picton environ. More dinner grumpage (though the Thai salad was nice after the wait (but had whatever it is that makes Z allergic)). More reading, then waiting for ferry sailing. Then ferry sailing. Z bounced outside and talked to people (how he survives rough crossings) and I read and mainly slept (how I survive rough crossings). Home about 3:30am and in bed by 4am (earlier than I expected given the ferry was late leaving and later in). Long day.
