Loitering in Mum and Dad's lounge, reading and basking in sunlight... and taking advantage of their broadband which is now working :)

Got in around midnight last night, and managed to get through customs by a bit before 1am. Lugage was very overweight - by 24 kg. Little expensive, but the stuff is now over. It should be noted that NZ customs didn't let in Z's feather quills for calligraphy - even though they had been boiled previously and had been in and out of the country repeatedly. Apparently the rules were tightened earlier this year. People may need to watch real feather fletching on arrows going to and from Festival etc. Will be interesting to see how the ones being freighted go...

On more optimistic news, Daywatch and now (jsut started) Stardust are showing at local movie theatres. What are the good cheap movie theatres, special rates etc? Definitley want to get to see both of those movies sooner rather than later. Daywatch is the higher priority at present as it has been showing for longer. Anyone in the vicinity interested? This weekend? Or whenever the cheap deals are...

Still have about $20 left on my Aussie mobile phone that needs using up. Then need to work out a good cheap mobile phone deal for someone who only used the phone very occasionally, generally for emergencies and/or txting, and barely goes through $30 of credit in 6 months...

Welcome back!

I'm not sure how it compares, but Vodafone have cheap basic phones at about $79-$99, which are then prepay. It's what Dan has, and it's pretty good for the low user.

:)
Have a phone and I would like to just be able to switch sim cards and go with prepaid again. Looks like Vodafone is trying to phase out its basic "put a bit on and have it expire after a year" scheme in NZ though, which was what I was using in Oz.

I get all my cellphone stuff charged to my home phone account, no worries about having to have credit. Interestingly it's cheaper per minute to ring your cellphone than it is to ring home from my cellphone. 65c/min vs 89c.

It's cheapass Tuesday for cheap movie night

If you've got Hoyts up there then the Hoyts Movie Max card is well worth purchasing. I think they've gone up to 30-something dollars, but for that you get three free non-"no comps" movies, and cheap tix for you and partner (so you only need to get one between you) to any movie, anytime. I can't remember exactly what cheap is, but it's under $10. You also get munchies discounts. They last a year.

Welcome back, anyway! :-) We'll have to start scheming costume events...
