Dammit, it is not supposed to be cold and wet. This is Canberra - it was 33 degrees this time last week. Ok, so I don't object to not having temperatures like that again for a while, a more gradual transition would be nice. Besides, we have a tent to air - nasty waterproofing and solvents.

Sun: Revolve, then out to site. Guess what, we shifted more rocks. Also helped position and check a sundial, and shift a clock tower. I got to play mudpies in a wheelbarrow, and mix up dirt, straw and water for sticking the rocks together - much cheaper and easier than mortoring them in place and based on the previous structures, very long lasting. Wildlife count increased to 1 blue tongue lizard, 3 frogs, kangaroos and a small snake. Snake was a trifle disturbing and the first I had seen over here in the wild. It didn't make it past Zane and the sledge hammer. He IDed it as a brown snake and had no desire to see a big brown snake in future. Home around 5pm and stumbled through dinner and napped.
Mon: Zane worked on tent beams. Mental note for next time, don't put them up on a slope before you have put the pins in - sight disaster there but recovered from. Ridge ties sewed on and door ties started ie there is a tie for each door right at the top. A few more may be more polite and less ventilated. Out to Site ~2pm, where it wasn't raining yet, but was clearly planning to. Enough time to get the tent roof and parts of the sides and beams waterproofed, before ~1/2 hour of heavy rain. This stopped and in the ~hour long gap between that and the next lot of rain, Zane repaired/reinforced beam ends, drilled holes and made pins. Then we assembled the frame somewhat more successfully - Yay. The drive home involved a pause to rescue a tortoise from the middle of the road and a rather cold wet ride with windows open to prevent the fumes from the partially waterproofed tent from overwhelming us. Hence the complaints above over the weather today.

Currently at home taking a break from sewing - ~ 2 seams left on a tunic and belt loops and cuffs on a pair of trousers. It's pleasantly surprising to come back to a project and realize that you were further along on it than you thought. The tent door ties and sod cloths hems man be a bit of an issue - something to do tomorrow and Thurs on site.

One note. On Mon afternoon on the way out to site, we stopped at a car accident that had occurred a matter of minutes before we turned up. Zane joined (oddly enough a couple other Scadians heading back to Canberra from site) in helped out with petrol spill, traffic direction and first aid matters until the fire service, police and ambulance turned up. They were very quick, but needed to be. Two cars had clipped each other at the front and been sent flying. One spun (driver walked away, possibly whiplashed), the other rolled. That driver was conscious but had her feet crushed and trapped by the pedals and car. Not good. Zane came back with slight blood stains on his shirt.

Please drive carefully over Easter... To and from Festival, in NZ or where ever. Just be careful.
