If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, if you aren't too busy actually having a life or need a good excuse to procrastinate varnishing the cat, post this little paragraph on your blog (or on the window or in the classified ads) and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

I am curious to see how the corridor camoflage holds up/affects things.

Chatting with you in the Mong at Canty Faire and then suddenly realising who you were (was quite embarrassed, actually...)

:) Normally it is when people don't realise I am there in a conversation group that causes shock/embarresment, rather than conversation.
It does feel odd when you first start physically talking to someone you have spyed/kept an eye on via friends of friends lists for ages. Or when it clicks part way though that that is who they are.

Actually, I was more embarrassed that I automatically assumed you were a local, when infact, you live in Oz...

Ah, but I cheated as I was a local until 3 1/2 years ago...

Failing to lose your temper while running a college.

Quite a recent one, but somehow very revealing:

Packing bloody great boxen into your car with [livejournal.com profile] basal_surge the well-known peer, and realising that they're not all going to fit, and then you pipe up with "why don't you move those ones forward and then you'll be able to fit that one there"... and we slapped our foreheads and did as you suggested and it all worked. And suddenly I knew that you and the well-known peer are perfect for each other: you have the brains, he has the gunpowder. Look out planet Earth!

At festival a couple of years ago, someone excitedly dragged us all out of the dining tent to admire some astonomy-related phenomenon, and then everyone looked to you for a fuller explanation.

And you looked kind of sheepish because what with doing radio astronomy(?) all the time you'd kind of forgotten a lot of this more normal stuff.

Oh, I generally stick to the optical and infrared when looking at stars, but my identification of constellations is medeocre and my ability to tell you which planet it is, most likely 1 in 3 unless it is Venus :).
