Bloody rental agency routine inspections. One scheduled for Weds 16th May (letter arrived today). Would help if they could a) address it to the correct people and b) not schedule it for between 9:30pm and 11:30pm - sure hope that is a typo cause they ain't coming around at that time of night. Definitely complaining to them this time. [Edit: time fixed to am instead of pm. Still happening though :(]

Though I also note that the act they cite (Residential Tenancies Act 1995 section 9 subsection (b)) ie the standard min 1 weeks warning in writing of access, does not actually appear under that bit in the online version on /www.legislation.sa.gov.au/LZ/C/A/RESIDENTIAL%2520TENANCIES%2520ACT%25201995/CURRENT/1995.63.UN.PDF (google's html version of the pdf). The bit I think they are refering to is Division 10 — Landlord's right of entry 72 1(b). Section(?) 9 subsection b refers to the tenant's conduct and that "the tenant must not cause or permit a nuisance..."

But I am being nitpicky cause Z is off in the field leaving tomorrow and back sometime in the weekend, so guess who will need to do most of the cleaning and tidying, especially the outdoor daylight stuff. Inside is survivable but I really loathe gardening* (mostly cause I end up doing it from the pulling out weeds/hack/slash/burn end). Started on the lawn today (before finding out about the inspection) - half done. Luxurious (overgrown) well watered for the past few weeks (shock horror!) long green grass being bludgeoned to death by a blunt as a two tonne blunt sponge push-mower. 2nd half tomorrow - will remember gloves.

Minor whinge whinge whinge which given the current lunar phasing isn't really suprising. Maximum desire to curl up with a hot water bottle and some painkillers should occur right when needing to clean most on Tues... I'll only be slightly homicidal and cranky til then.

Good news: 19 eyelets done on the bliaut which is either just over half or just over a quarter depending on what I end up thinking of the spacing. And Farscape is as good as I remembered. And it isn't that large a garden and the roses are in bloom.

*Love gardens, hate gardening, especially weeding - hayfever may have something to do with this. Kept certain pot plants alive for years back in NZ, though did kill the (theoretically) live Christmas Tree this year by leaving it to bake while we visited Canberra. Generally they die when I go away, especially if I get someone to look after them. Give me cacti any day - they generally thrive under my benevolent neglect.

For the edification of those interested in the sorts of weather conditions [livejournal.com profile] basal_surge will be labouring under.
They want to get the field work out of the way before the hot season...
Mind you, 27 degrees for here tomorrow sounds brilliant compared to the 35 degrees forecast for Weds and Thurs. I think getting the walking outside tasks done tomorrow (posting inspection report for new place - is it evil to be including a cd of photos?) and baricading the weather out after sounds like a very good idea.

In the interesting lunar phase with alternating very bouncy, very mopey and no transition warning... Maybe Z escaped just in time...

Definitely still note that it is easier being the person going off to strange new place to do stuff rather than being the one staying home. Made worse by not having gainful employment during the day to keep a bit more occupied. Mind you, the previous longest separations have been me buggering off for 3 weeks to Europe (twice) - turn about is fair play.

Time to watch Myth Busters shooting things...
