Ok....

So, apparently this (just) past February has been the hottest February for the past 100 years in Adelaide.
Oh joy. Just as well we skipped out on a week and a half of it.
But we are getting used to it. Such that complaints about Chch getting up to 30 degrees and being far too hot are greated with delight that it has finally gotten down to around 30 degrees round here. 34 tomorrow and 37 degrees on Fri before she settles in around 28 degress for the rest of the following week.
Glad we went for the air conditioning and room with a ceiling fan though. Sleep and hands not too sweaty to sew with are good.

Right, so Weatherzone says the temperature is currently 33 degrees C as of 1pm Kent Town.
Just checked the thermometer* on the back wall outside - it says 36 degrees, but it is in a sheltered paved area (though no sunlight). Suspect it is always going to be a few degrees hotter than official - sorry to anyone working on projects in the back yard/garage over summer.
In the lounge it is currently 28 degrees, though I have been decadent and just put on the aircon. The house is well enough insulated that you don't need the aircon for the first day well above 30 degrees, but the cumulative effect of the second is enough to bump it up.

Christmas cards and letters are mostly posted, bar the package for Z family friends that we don't know the addresses of.

Shops were dangerous and I wandered out with ~2kg of cherries ($3 per ~500g bag), nectarines, grapes, dark drinking chocolate and a suprise for Z. Would have liked cheap strawberries for choc dipped strawberries, but not at $3+ per punnet. Not as bad as $6 per tiny punnet of raspberries. Roughly a dollar a spoonfull. Wonder if choc dipped cherries would work?

Time for Regency House party and sewing tunics I think.

* Yay to $3 thermometers from the UberBunningsWarehouse. A Bunnings large enough to have a Cafe... And cunning staff who either know exactly where everything is or have worked out that if they sound confident and give exact coordinates on the far side of the store, you will never find them again to complain if the coordinates are wrong - only half an aisle wrong.

I think today may be spent baracaded in, with airlocks on the outside doors (the door between the laundry and kitchen makes a whole lot more sense now). Reason - she's forecast to get up to 36 degrees today. Already 26 degrees by 8am and she only got below 20 degrees around 6:30am for about half an hour. Fingers crossed the forecast thunderstorms turn up later in the day.
Blah.

Good weekend though, even if it did get up around 33 degrees on both days. Throne measuring, lots of sitting on pieces of plywood while other people cut them, nice chinese food in good company, then cheesecake, more thronage, a break with some shopping and good blobage, more throning and then everyone else continued while I keeled over and slept between 5:30pm and 9pm. Food and then the good doco (see previous entry) before off to sleep.

Not much to report re tunic sewing progress. Discovered on Fri evening I did my neckline slightly crooked, mucked up the body width and really didn't do well on the straight line front. Sat I found out I had made the neck hole on Z's tunic too big and his body width too wide too (though to a lesser extent). Not happy and the tunics are curently in a pile on the lounge floor waiting for me to stop swearing when I look at them, unpick the (very nicely) handsewn and finished shoulder seams on the sleeves, cut an inch or so off either side of the torso and resew. Maybe today... Although I suspect much of today will be spent under the ceilign fan in our room...
