Dance musings...
Aug. 15th, 2007 01:32 amSo, dance practice tonight had Argeers and Lo Spagnoletto (yes, google will correct your spelling to the latter if you are slightly off).
Argeers was interesting (a new one for me) - things worked well once we got the first verse, but it took a while til then timing wise. If I say washing machine agitation and shopping trolleys you may get some mental images of some of what was involved - there was a great deal of laughing. Didn't see any logical patterns in it, so really didn't sink in well. But will be fun to do it again.
Lo Spagnoletto I thought I knew from SG, but obviously some of the details has fallen out the cracks in the past 4 years. It didn't help that the local version here is slightly different - trying to track down which version they are working off - I vaguely remember the printout(s) C had (2 versions), but googling hasn't helped for the locally used one. The difference in emphasizing fioretti over spezzati, vs spezzati over fioretti I can sort of see why (footnotes and no definition etc for "fioretti spezzati"), but more confused over the difference in Figure 5 (down the page here is the version I am familiar with). It does appear mainly to be directional with less odds of collision. A transcript of the original Negri instructions is here, but since my (16th C) Italian is nonexistant...
Just curious to know where the differences originate from.
In any case, a good dance to be re-acquainted with.
Unfortunately only about 3, maybe 4 practices here to go (and a Revel and a Ball) and I don't know the state of dance practices in Darton...
