Fri evening: Good Barbarian party. Not as many as had said they would turn up (not exactly a rare thing in Canberra), but an interesting mix of medievalists, astronomers and linguists. Some very interesting costumes, which I may put photos up for later. Z's barbarian game worked well. Picts (?), Huns (K), Libyans (C), Goths (P), and Parthians (me) swept in and beat up on the Romans (Z) and the decline and fall of the Roman empire was accomplished with much battles and bribery. The setup involved a map of Dark Age Europe and surrounds, lots of 1:72 scale Dark age figurines, dice (for deciding who drowned or not), and M&Ms (for bribery and corpse compensation). Battles were decided via full on scissors, paper, stone, often to the death or a large enough Danegeld/bribe. Wound down around 1:30am, with the last people crashing around 3am. Was fun:)

Today, went and saw Arcadia on stage. Was very good, and if you get the chance, I thoroughly reccommend it. Very cool Regency era costumes. Definite advantage in following things, having seen the play before, although that was about 8 years ago.

Pictures of Shirt sewing progress can be seen here. As can be seen, there is still a fair amount to go. But managing to stick to pure linen fabric, white linen and black silk thread.

I should stop waffling and get ready to head off to Film Club: Underworld: Evolution. Should be good and brainless. Yay vampires, werewolves and corsetry. Fluff fluff fluff:)

I really hate this message:
CHECK THETA-PRL STRATIFICATION
Especially when it is completely unobvious as to why there are temperature pressure stratification issues.
Stupid stellar atmosphere models...

Arcadia (yay to Tom Stoppard plays) is currently showing at Theatre 3. Info at:

The first link says there are cheap matinee performances on two Sat afternoons, but neither of the other website list them. Should try and book for the 6th.
Wish I could see the "Hamlet" and "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" performances in Chch... Sigh.

And it looks like dinner combined with Anthony and Cleopatra on Fri (tommorrow)...

Last thing I saw at the theatre was a Chch performance of Les Miserables and before that, Travisties at the Court Theatre (more than 5 years ago).
