Things to do and sort.
Feb. 22nd, 2006 12:46 pmSewing is summarized here
Current "must be done" projects
- Tent 1 has been put up and does work, although is difficult to do with only 2 people. Needs waterproofing, setting up on flat and marking doors and fastening points. You could sleep in it now, but it will mist inside in a downpour (will probably always do that due to fabric weave) and the doors would need to be shut with safety pins. Need to do toggles, holes and trim/hem doors.
- Tent 2. Start the bastard. The floors were swept and mopped on Mon, so are clean enough for cutting out. Finish the bastard before Festival starts, otherwise several people are bunking in the A-frame and while there is the space, I'm not sharing. Possibly not make tents for a while.
- [edit] Make more tent ropes.
- [edit] Make more tent pegs.
- Shower base on site. Get lots of concrete. Mix it up and schmear it on to fill up the appropriate bits with the appropriate pipes marking things out. (25/2 - sounding unlikely now or 18-19/3)
- Kitchen sump on site. Dig hole, fill with gravel and pipes and cover hole. Z gets most of the work there. (18-19/3)
- Kitchen chuffer on site. Build chuffer (with the usual associated fun). Only 1 keg so less work than the last one. (8-9 or 10..11..12/4)
- Portable holes. Z's job so I imagine will be done some time in the week before...:)
- Apply for the leave needed around Easter (6 days should do)
- Get lease sorted so don't have to move house a week and a half after Festival.
We are supplying:
- Tent 1 for KK&BB. Their kids get domed behind so need to remember space behind.
- Tent M for S&S.
- Tent 2 for E&D&(anyone else who gets in)
- Tent D for K, as well as sleeping bag, air (?) mattress, plate/bowl/cutlery (?) - mug easily gotten from Tavern on 1st night, but have spares.
- Anything else?
Who else needed air mattresses? - we have 2 single, 1 double total. Plenty of spare straw hats, wooden bowls. If people don't want to use them, they can always be flogged off with the leather at Market. I am using this list as base reference, so even if you have mentioned it to me elsewhere, remind me again.
Time lines (includes general stuff):
- 25/26.2: Birthday party
- 4/5.3: AAF picnic
- 11/12.3: Good film club movies
- 18/19/20.3: Site Prep and long weekend due to Canberra day.
- 25/26.3: Good film club movie
- 1/2.4: Good film club movies
- 8/9.4 Site prep/set up.
- 10.4 More site stuff. S&M overnight (lets see if we get any snide comments to see if anyone made it down this far, and no it isn't what you think)
- 11.4 Pick up of SF people and stuff. More site stuff.
- 12.4 K arrives on site. Make sure stuff there for her:). Shift other crap.
- 13.4 Get out to site and stay out at site. Festival type stuff.
- 18.4 Pack up. Given the number of tents, multiple trips will be required.
- 19.4 Collapse, laundry, sleep.
- 20.4 Normal life resumes.
I'd start on the "would be nice to be done" list but this is already a little on the long side. Nothing really to add to the earlier sewing post I think.
Scared yet or one of those normal ones ie everyone is this nuts? Actually given how long it took to make the first tent, we are still at the easily plausible scale and have time for one or two side projects - though not a Yurt.
And you would think that after over 28 years, I would have learned not to stay up til 1am on a week night, watching ice-dancing, then docos on history of Punk and homosexuality in the movies... Why do they put the good stuff on so late?
Well, there went lunch time. Food while constructing and attempting to converge model stellar atmospheres.
Tally Ho.
