Last night was fun.

Went to a seminar organised by the local Skeptics society. The speaker was Phil Plait of www.badastronomy.com fame. He was very good and it was definitely worth it. He spent over an hour going over the various Martian conspiracies ie faces on mars, glass worms/mass transit systems, numerological angle ratios between "buildings" in the Cydonia region and various other Hoegland atrocities, and demolished with an axe. Great fun.
So, keep in mind Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit... and keep thinking!!!

In other news, moving suburbs is mostly done and is onto the rearranging, tidying and cleaning phase. Fingers crossed that should be able to assemble new bed tonight... mmmm linseed, beeswax and pine... Also need to (but don't look forward to) move the filing cabinet upstairs as it is somewhat suboptimal in the garage... and generate more bookcases. A collection precariously crammed onto 2 bookcases previously has exploded onto 4 bookcases* in the new place and more would probably be safer. And need to work out where to store the kipple...

*and yes, this includes one of the original bookcases and 3 other bookcases of similar size... There is no such thing as too many books ... except when you have to move them. And yes, I am very carefully resisting the Museum of London Excavations books and the new Greenland textiles book and the new edition of Owen-Crocker's Dress in Anglo-Saxon England and the one on York Anglo-Scandinavian and medieval leatherwork finds. I have not succumbed to the online ordering of books... yet.
