Someone is cooking a meat pie in the kitchen oposite and I can SMELL it...
I know the reality will not live up to the smell, but that doesn't stop me wanting pie...
And then my brain turns to medieval meat pies - which tend to be far nicer than the modern sludge... and if you make them, guaranteed to have meat you can identify.


Ok this has just devolved to links to medieval recipe collections, but that can't exactly hurt...

I now have a major craving for those little mince pies you used to make. Got the recipe anywhere?

You mean the marinate/mix up mince in soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, hoisin sauce, pineapple juice(?), sugar/honey, ginger, garlic, (and whatever else in handy) fry up mince (with onion?), put into small flakey pastry shells in muffin tins and fold the tops over in a sort of lid and bake til pastry is golden pies ?
Same mix as a good kebab marinade...
I think the recipe started as one for marinated chicken nibbles in the Form 2 home ecconomics cookbook for Casebrook...and evolved...
Make sense?
Haven't made those in a while and now I want some...

Yeah, those would be the ones. Hmm, I think I may still have that cookbook somewhere in the spare room... mmm pies... Might pick up the fixings tonight. They'll make good lunches...
