It's Monday already...
Oct. 24th, 2005 12:20 pmOk, so where did the weekend go?
Fri Evening: Dinner at La Pasa (ex Little Saigon, for those who know what I am talking about). Nice banquet meal with more than enough to eat for $20.
Sat: Screen printing supplies - nice to have shop staff who know what they are talking about, Sallies and St Vinnies - blue dress with Da Vinci sketch figures on it. There is enough clearance so there is at least 2 1/2 inches between the hem and the base of my hair... Also the first 5 Brother Cadfael omnibuses (3 books per omnibus) for $2 each. Not a bad read there. Relaxing afternoon with slight interuptions - must get around to making some of that wool into hose. Evening of pizza, Fellowship of the Rings and eventually pool. So now, as well as playing "Where did they film that?" and "Spot the extras you know", my brain fills in bits from the musical version... Need to play pool more often as the last time before this was about 4-5 years ago. I did sink at least 1 ball in each of the games I played, but it didn't really get any better than that...
Sun: Standard Trash and Treasure and YMCA. Nap. Wax tablet making. Z planed the wood while I googled for historically documentable dimensions. References include
The Waxed Tablet Page of Randy Asplund (One of the few citing extant dimensions for specific examples)
Making and Using Waxed Tablets (Thora Sharptooth and co's one)
Wax tablets from York TINY cute wee thing...
Waxed Tablets - why you want one, and how to build one. (Ulf's article)
Waxed Tablets from Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages (good links collection - will include a number from here)
Z did the rest of the work as well, though at the momment one of my copper veil pins in serving as a stylus. For more comments, see Z's entry on the subject.
And over in NZ it's a holiday and over here it's not:(. We were lazy and after a late night last night, decided not to walk in today. This was supported by the pouring rain at 7am when we would have been leaving.
And people are off at NAAMA as well, so all quiet...
And in other ramblings and cause I can, Civil Union photo can be found here
, aussie animals here, and BeorgWic photos here.
(Yes, ugly Yahoo, hope people can actually see those - album is at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jmcsaveney/my_photos, which should be viewable to all...)
