Looks like owning a copy of the AGB stars book, might be useful, so checking prices etc. Publisher appears not to ship to Australia (unless it is to send one of the contributing authors a copy - how I am reading it at the momment). Amazon has it 15% off, taking it to $116 AUD - not nice but understandable for a technical text. So naturally if I am going to get one book form Amazon, I might as well get a couple others and my mind (naturally) drifts towards the Medieval Finds from Excavations in London series. Bugger - no longer available new, so $9.79 US each surcharge. And the prices... $~49 AUD for the Textiles and Clothing copy might be worth it (includes shipping cpnt), when Dress Accessories is going for $107. Don't ask about Household accessories ($210 US USED!!! excl shipping) - the one I was REALLY interested in. And these aren't nearly as technical (or large) as the AGB book.

I think it is safest to borrow the AGB book and continue drooling over the Medieval Finds books - maybe ordering at Festival...

Hmph.

Edit:
So, would this be worth it? (Early Medieval Settlements : The Archaeology of Rural Communities in North West Europe 400 to 900)
or
Viking Age England?
Ok - a little on the expensive side...The Cambridge History of Scandinavia
Flatmate has a copy of this picked up for half price Northern World : The History and Heritage of Northern Europe AD 400-1110
Viking Empires
Viking World by JAMES GRAHAM-CAMPBELL (Z: do you have this one already?)
I should probably just go to the bookshop (in Sydney)

So, when did my taste in books start getting so expensive?
... when I started wanting the ones with the pretty pictures of actual artifacts with decent text... and already had the cheaper ones from second hand sales eleswhere...
