Various LJ costumers (mainly medieval) are off to medievalist events at the moment. Oddly enough I am only mildly curious about Pennsic. Medeltidsvecken (Medieval week in Visby, Gotland) on the other hand... I really want to go back to that. I went in 2001, staying at the Styringheim (Gotland SCA) group campsite*. It was very good. Now they are apparently located in a Living History style tent village just outside the 14th C town walls.

*Same year as Alaric and Nerissa were there. Nothing like walking into a tent on the opposite side of the world and being able to play snap with Canterbury Faire T-shirts.

Australia's National Science week is on. Do you reckon it would be worth going to this talk?

After 1 tabbard took all of Moulin Rouge last night to pin, iron, and sew (including 20 min of swearing at the sewing machine while adjusting thread tension (I really hate that bit), 3 tabbards took a bit under 3 B5 episodes to iron and sew. 1 hand towel took 3 B5 episodes and a civic to work bus trip to hand sew. The units we end up with...

Should have gone with hot chocolate or asked about apple tea. The turkish coffee wasn't quite sweet enough. It was however strong enough.

My parents are off to Norway for a trip in two weeks. They get to head north of the Arctic Circle. This will mean they will have both been inside both the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. Mum can chalk up the South Pole as well.

I think a month or two touring around Scandinavia would be a good idea... They even employ stellar astronomers in Sweden. And the museums in Stockholm...

Edit: And this one was just curious: Challenging masculinity makes men 'act macho'

Random enough?
