A clue to telemarketers: Asking for Mrs Bruce is a dead givaway that you don't have a clue what you are talking about and are acting on false information. This will not help you sell your product. This has happened twice so far in the past few days. If it continues, the responses are going to get more entertaining.

While discussing telemarketers with collegues a while ago, one of the postdocs decided the response for next time would be to put his two year old son on the phone. He likes talking on the phone. 5 min of toddler babble should do nicely.

If someone rings and asks for Mrs DH, I often say "There's no Mrs DH here. I am Mr DH's wife." That usually boggles them.

It's not helped by the fact that not only do we have different surnames, but I'm listed first in the phone book... telemarketers give themselves away by asking for "Mr Myname" and when I tell them there's no Mr Myname here, they sometimes go on to ask for "Ms DH".
