Since just watched the Time Team episode on the Llangors Crannog, and Z found the reference to the textile fragment found there on a slightly earlier dig (not mentioned in the Time Team episode)

The textile piece was found charred onto a piece of wood in the lake near some of the still intact pieces of original wooden Anglo-Saxon palisade/causeway...
