Forms of procrastination/distraction
Dec. 14th, 2009 11:30 pmSo, in order to procrastinate from doing the neckline of the suitable for later period (14th/15th C)linen undertunic, plenty of progress is being made on the blackwork for the neckline of the blackworked chemise. This was last seen here, but it has had the 4th seam and underarm seams done for a while and had been chucked in a corner and ignored for several months (if not a year or so). Technically I have enough of the decorative band to do the neckline now (after a Rome binge), but may do some extra so the seam joins from the two pieces can be somewhere inconspicuous. After that I may or may not be mad enough to embroider rather than just hem the cuffs, but we shall see.
Noticing a bad tendency towards playing with the decorated bits and ignoring the rest at present. Hence the procrastination of the linen undertunic (quite plain and practical) and the random working on random garments with embroidery for which I have no clothing to go with eg blackworked coif and now the chemise.
Oops.
We wont mention the lack of documentation for the shape of the blackworked chemise (cut out 2003 with raglan sleeves and I have updated references since then) and hence my lack of enthusiasm for it as a garment... It would be a shame to waste the blackwork. Besides, it may do underneath later 15th/early 16th C Florentine... or something...
