They've shrunk
Aug. 8th, 2009 01:07 pmI grew up around geologists, and was quite familiar with large social gatherings of them. I fondly remember the BBQs on Clyde Road. Tall stories, good food etc. And even the field trips, ignoring the road cuttings in favour of a good book in car while the hoards got out to look and poke and prod. Many bits of rock that had gallen from one place to another or been pushed.
But what I really remember was that they were big. Tall really. Rooms of towering people.
But that was 15-20 years ago...
Went to dinner with Z's section (nice steak). Many geologists. But suddenly it sinks in that I didn't need to look up. Mainly out and down.
They've shrunk.
Obviously.
