Medieval singing on Tues evenings. Yay to singing and learning stuff. Yay to getting a better grasp of songs than just hearing them and attempting to sing along once or twice a year at events.

But we are assembling songs to sing.

And I would kinda like to do "Will you buy a fine dog", which is perfectly fine with respect to pedegree for SCA events - found in Sir Thomas Morley's "First Book of Ayres", published 1601.

It is just the lyrics... :) (I have posted them before but for easy reference)

Will you buy a fine dog?
With a hole in his head:
With a dildo,
With a dildo dildo,
With a dildo dildo dildo;

Muffs, puffs, ribatos, and fine sister's threads:
With a dildo,
With a dildo dildo,
With a dildo dildo ...

I stand not on points, pins, periwigs, combs, glasses,
Gloves, garters, girdles, busks for the brisk lasses;
But I have other dainty, dainty tricks:
Sleek stones and potting sticks:
With a dildo dildo dildo,
Diddle diddle dildo ...

And for a need,
My pretty pretty pretty pods:
Amber, civet, and musk cods:
With a dildo,
With a diddle diddle dildo,
With a diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle
Diddle diddle dildo,
With a dildo:
Diddle diddle diddle diddle
Diddle diddle dildo.

And I have the Noteworthy version linked off here, down the base of the page, second to last song under Lute Songs or Ayres.

Anyone else wish to give it a try?*

*There is also lots of other Morley stuff there to try...
