stellar_muddleI am up on a mountain top, staring out into the surrounding cloud and every so often it is nice and continues raining... Occasionally I catch sight of a bedraggled raven sulking in a tree or a soggy parrot wombles past the window.
Random recently read good books:
Assassin's Quest - Robin Hobb aka Megan Lindholm. Not bad, and should probably chase up the Tawny Man series. Her best work is still Cloven Hooves though.
The Last Light of the Sun - Guy Gavriel Kay. Good, though not as good as some of his previous work. Took a little getting into for me with the bits I recognised from various historical incidents etc jarring slightly. This is the same as I noticed with the Sarantine novels, which is funny because that was the thing which Z really liked about the books.
Sunshine - Robin McKinley. Good but quite different from her usual. There is a big contrast between Beasts and roses and vampires in a modernish magical setting. Quite different take and a rather large improvement on Laurell K. Hamilton.
Also experimenting on lj-cuts... and procrastinating...
Need to wake up just a tad. The last paper was at least on a subject I have waffled about before, at great length for 4+ years, but the current one (ie conference proceedings due Sept) has only been a current brick wall for a year now.
Ok, time to feed body and brain....
