So, 34 now...
May. 1st, 2011 11:49 pmNot too bad a weekend, with a birthday and chocolate tasting evening and much books.
Sat: 34th birthday. Hit the Upper Hutt Rotary Book fair with Mum. Mmmm $1,$2 and $3 books, and a very nice $3 1000 piece jigsaw of a steampunk orbital bubble telescope. Now I just need to find somewhere to work on it without the kittens 'helping'. Tidying in the afternoon. Evening was chocolate tasting evening.
alpha_angel wandered in with her new Festival Viking horned knitted beanie. You know it is a small world when we think we tracked it down as one made by
splodgenoodles... In any case, by the time every one arrived (~14 people) there was much much much chocolate. Next time we should remember a rule of only one block per person, and only break up about 1/3 of a block to start. Random verdicts: Lindt white goes extremely nicely with roasted cocoa nibs, I liked the chilli and cinnamon dark chocolate, and we still have a stupid quantity of chocolate left, even after people went away with doggie bags full.
Entertaining to see how the kittens handled the large influx of people. Lovelace got edgy the more people turned up and eventually disappeared (it turns out into the inside of the sofa (covered in people(!))), to have a long nap, eventually emerging when we were down to about 7-8 people, and was lap sociable. Babbage was a complete cuddle slut the entire time and smooched up to people left, right and centre, migrating from lap to lap as the evening went on. Complete lack of shyness there.
Sun: Relaxed day, getting the remains of the laundry done and getting the book catalogue up to scratch.
Now, time to head off to bed before it gets too late...
