I am sure I meant to do an detailed overview for the year and a summary of what I was up to over Christmas/New Years.
But we are nearly a 1/3 of the way onto January and I need to get stuff ready for Taupo and CF, so it will be vague notes and ramblings.

120 books read for the year. Higher than previous years counting via LJ. 1/2 hour each way train journeys to work will do that, whereas Tawa was only about 20 min each way.

Not so much done project-wise this year. That may have something to do with having moved twice (including a 2 month stint crashing with my parents). But then we also bought a house, so that means no moving any time soon (hurray!!!). But that also introduces a whole bunch of other projects...

More recently:

I can thoroughly not recommend getting two wisdom teeth out a week before Christmas. Was initially fine (not problems getting them out), but the following week was laid low by something (Tues, and Weds recovery) so was on antibiotics in case it was tooth hole related. Then recovering from the antibiotics over Christmas :( Unfortunately the other two wisdom teeth need out as well, but waiting til after CF to get the those two out.

Late Boxing day-New Years was down south. Much time spent computer training, wading up rivers, visting galleries and various sales, successfully shoe shopping (2 pairs good combat boots for me, but given I had just killed my main ones in the afore mentioned wading up a river...), good wedding for [livejournal.com profile] pen_aur and M etc. You know you are well involved with a geologist when they have filled their hands and pockets with rocks and have started putting them in your pockets. At least I didn't end up carrying the sand and clay samples back from the wading up the river earlier in the trip. I only got a few of the bog iron chuncks that time.

Then it was back to work. Slow start with a 3 day week (just finished), then the future involves a 5 day week, 2 day week, 4 day week, 4 day week, then back to usual.

Project wise, the lead up to CF/Taupo is involving more practical than pretty (I may come back with a mad desire for pretty stuff/envy of everyone else's pretty stuff after but that is fairly common). Mud brown linen men's tunic for me (yay to anglo-saxon bobbing and not sweltering) and then one for Z (already mostly cut out and I only need to do the neckline and he will take over the rest). Naalbinded sock is nearly there (once tunic is finished). There are plans afoot for warp weighted loom weaving at CF. This time around I'm warping it up beforehand to speed things up. Mind you, I may warp it up at Taupo as a display activity...

Week and a half to Taupo, 3 weeks til CF.

Plenty of time... Pity about that whole needing to work and sleep in that time as well...
