Just finished Sorcery and Cecelia by Patricia Wrede and Caroline Stevermer last night. A light fun reread from years ago and I was happy to discover the existence of another two books in the series:
The Grand Tour or The Purloined Coronation Regalia: Being a Revelation of Matters of High Confidentiality and Greatest Importance, Including Extracts from the Intimate Diary of a Noblewoman and the Sworn Testimony of a Lady of Quality (2004)
The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After: Being the Private Correspondence Between Two Prominent Families Regarding a Scandal Touching the Highest Levels of Government and the Security of the Realm (2006)
Must track them down.

Currently doing a slight YA binge:
Dragonhaven by Robin McKinley
Sorcery and Cecelia
and am in the middle of The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett

Much fun, a good read and a lot less depressing than some of the high end fantasy people seem to be recommending currently. Depressing, violent and often misogynistic crap. That seems to cover a bunch of the TV people are recommending or at least showing on TV these days too. I like CSI but that doesn't blind me to it, and as for some of the other cop series of its ilk... Pushing the envelope, my arse. *insert rant about good writing and dialogue and storytelling here* I am sure you can come up with a good one, but I am about to go back to Terry Pratchett and spare you the hassle of reading it - treat yourself to a good book that works well with a fire, beanbag, cat on lap and hot chocolate or hot beverage of choice instead.

And on a more positive note, the ornamental plum on the driveway is starting to bloom, the snowdrops were out in the Boulton St Cemetery and the tuis are starting to get all burbly (2 on a glorious walk in the sunshine at lunchtime). I know it probably translates in tui to "Mine mine mine" and "Shag me, I'm the prettiest", but it is still fun to listen to :)

And Z is having fun with a bag of walnuts/hazelnuts and any rocks he can find in his vicinity. smash munch... :)
