Fri: After work (and the thunderstorm which I got to hear but not really see), headed for K's. Then went to [livejournal.com profile] argentbear's Pirate Birthday party via S&Ts and a touch of agriculture. Got to S&T's just in time to see the schloooop bit of a baby alpaca being born. Mum was definitely on the protective side. Baby looked like a very long necked and legged chihuahua... 3/4 drowned in lubricant... Looked much cuter the following day when about and bouncy. The afterbirth was quite entertaining in its very slow rolling tumble down the hill towards T. Party was good, even if did pike earlyish for some sleep... and then stayed up late (12:30am) chatting with Z on Skype.

Sat: Slept in til 10:30am. Then did a selection of grown up things such as laundry, paying power bill and voting. Then had more fun with such things as Yum Char, Archery (did manage to shoot the monkey in the shoulder, knock him off his perch and bounce arrows (target ones) off his arse and legs) and went to a Sweet Off (theme: Desserts of our ancestors). K did choc pudding (Mum's recipe) and I supplied strawberries to dip in it. Didn't win but it was declared that the choc pudding went really nicely with the very alcoholic cream (nicknamed Alcosnot based on appearance, but tasting great with everything dessertlike there). Headed off from that early as other pasengers were pumpkinning, talked to Z a little, had a bath and then went to sleep by ~11pm...

Sun: Sort of slept in til ~9:30am, answered a phone, went back to sleep and slept til ~11:30am. Then headed off with [livejournal.com profile] alpha_angel to the Sexpo. Giggled, sniggered, fondled (but generally the fabrics used are blah), and bought the occasional thing. Missed most of the shows, but decided that the strip routines from Heavenly Burlesque were far more fun. There were actually reasonably boned corsets (Joanna G label, UK imports) which one stall had an ultra special on and were selling for $40!!! (Down from the usual $300) but K was quite miffed to discover they has sold out of smalls and Medium was just too large. Then headed home via Dressmart (cheaper silly underwear in a better range) and Moore Wilson*. Yum to sweet chili Kransky in devilled sausages. Now watching Top Gear (they are racing double decker cars... accelerator and brakes below, steering above..) and wondering what to do next...

Now stiffling urges to bake (it being that time of the month and I often get urges to bake then - beats bad stomach cramps). Maybe cheese straws...

* Sorry Z they didn't have the silver kilo bags of Dutch Cocoa. No idea if they still stock it. Had the Blokker but New World now sticks that, so didn't pick any up.

Mmmm
Fresh baked bowl of cheese straws*...

* 1 c flour, 1 c grated butter, 1 cup grated (tasty) cheese, ~2 t baking powder, dash smoked garlic salt and dash of caijun seasoning (would have been mustard powder but appear not to have any)**. Crumble the lot together and add water to make dough. Squish flat, slice and bake in hot oven for ~10 min. Put in a bowl, sprinkle on salt and devour. Wonder if you should set some aside for other people or for later... And then decide that if there are some left, someone else _might_ be able to have some***. Not certain if that is more healthy than popcorn drowned in butter with salt, though I don't put a cup of butter on a bowl of popcorn.

** Recipe taken from the one in Rally Cook book I, published by the New Zealand Every Boy's and Girl's rallies. The odd useful things left behind by previous inhabitants of flats. I tend to ignore the Scripture quotes on the occasional pages.

*** There probably will be at least half the bowl left over...

The hazards of surfing recipes and and having cooking stuff on tv in the background.
