Looting time...
Apr. 5th, 2008 04:23 pmSo heading off to op shops to buy up on feast gear to on-sell to college newcomers. Possibly came back with a bit more than that...
Trash palace:
Assorted goblets (though 1 broken in transit)
Assorted knives
Assorted cups
Some wooden bowls, though not as many as hoped
1 wooden chest "for raw materials"
Some bread and butter plates for us
2 narrow leather belts
Porirua Sallies:
2 loaf baking tins.
Nothing at UH recycling place (evil hours, as only enough time for 2 min check before they closed at 1pm)
Nothing at UH Red Cross (they had been shut from 12:30pm), though did see 3 plates of the same style and pressed rim pattern as my 1st SCA one (which we later found documentation for to ~13th C in a book somewhere)
UH Sallies:
Spare knives, forks and spoons, some of which may be useful for medieval stuff
Whisk and corkscrew bottle opener
Might have been another wooden bowl or two but I am not certain.
Nothing from Steptoe and Son. Saw nice mahogany wardrobe with shelves and stands labeled for collars (soft and hard), socks and opera hats amongst other things, but a bit on the expensive side.
UH Briscoes:
No stainless steel frying pan (the reason we went in)
2 mixing bowls (1/2 price)
1 knife (1/2 price)
1 metal baking rack
UH Savemart:
3 black skirts for me - yay to nice flowing flaring out long black skirts of various materials.
1 shirt for Z
1 vest for Z to convert to a safety one with pockets
1 pair of silly romanish calf high sandals for me which will be good for Toga/roman parties, but not certain what else.
Moore Wilson:
Milo tin of DOOOM (should last about 4-6 months)
bamboo steaming racks
wanton (or spring roll) wrappers
cashew nuts
cinnamon quills
Having finished my apple tea and rather late lunch, now debating whether to make more banana muffins or ginger date loaf or a banana loaf or just all of the above...
PS. For definite happiness, get 1 box of instant turkish apple tea, a jug of how water and a 250g bag of cinnamon quills(Yay Moore Wilson at about $5 for the bag even though I have suspicions that they are cassia actually due to the bark coarseness, but hey, still good). Put ~3 spoonfuls of apple tea mix in your mug. Put in cinnamon quill. Pour in hot water. Attempt to stir with quill, though feel free to drop it in if it is too short and you burn your fingers. Add a little cold water til you can safely drink it. Spend a few minutes inhaling the glorious apple cinnamon smell. Drink :)
