Busy day...
Festival Site prep - Day one.
Shifted rocks. Shifted rocks from one large kiln shaped pile to a variety of smaller less organized piles, some of which made it into the base of a chuffer heater, more of which will do so tomorrow. In the process of doing this, we disturbed innumerable Redbacks* and one Blue Tongued Lizard. About a foot long with a thick body and clubbed tail. Skin like a black pine cone and a very blue tongue which he waved at us to show his displeasure at having his house disturbed. Very cool.
Less cool - having to travel back to Canberra (45min drive one way) and out again, because Yass (the nearest town to Site) is open 5 1/2 days a week - at least with respect to Hardware Stores and specifically, concrete. Very silly early 1980s hours. At least Canberra isn't that bad, even if it is impossible to find good rope.
I am currently procrastinating from whipping tent rope splices. I will be good and go back to that now.

* One of the reason heavy gloves were worn and a standard tactic of "Kick rock over, quickly flip and check other side, THEN pick up" was employed.
