So, what other than the smell of crispy/burning toast/steak/pastry reminds you that you had something in the oven/stovetop when watching TV/on the 'net etc?

Also burnt the top of the mouth on hot lemon curd...

Only 1 out of 3 batches and it still tastes nice.

Well, there is the room gradually filling with smoke that's kind of hard to ignore...but relatively easy if you're my ex-housemate's rather dull friend who has come over to glue himself to the computer. I'd put some muffins in the oven and clean forgot about them while I was out in the workshop. When I got back inside, the entire house was filled with smoke and I could hardly see, yet the friend was sitting on the computer, completely oblivious...
