Thought I would have learned by now...

So, what other than the smell of crispy/burning toast/steak/pastry reminds you that you had something in the oven/stovetop when watching TV/on the 'net etc?

Also burnt the top of the mouth on hot lemon curd...

Only 1 out of 3 batches and it still tastes nice.

I'm still looking for a solution to that problem. And I have a fairly useless sense of smell, so it usually takes somebody else to come rushing in from another room shouting that something's on fire to make me realise...

If you find a solution, do tell me!
