So, 4 min to sew the seam, 1 hour + to unpick it (2.5m long double needle seam, which I didn't get to interlock properly).

Gosh, what fun...

But Time Team is doing Stone Age:).

Ouch! Was a cracking Time Team, though. Evil, uncooperative sewing machines are behind my move to doing most things by hand these days. I blame the NZers for reinforcing my preference for slow and steady over fast and lots.

And re your previous posts, I always dream that I've left my smocks and camicas at home. I think it's our brains saying: "Put this amount of effort into world conquest rather than handsewing and you girls could save us from the Bushes and Howards of the world." To which we reply: "And have to wear those stupid shirts at APEC meetings? Shut up, brain."

This is why we need to give the young set skills while their hands are still tiny and strong and they can use all of that obsessive kid power to stitch their way through a few foot each in return for pizza and chocolate. It's the sole reason I'm training the local kids up, well, that and the fact they will be all enculturated to have exactly my politics in 15 years when they're running everything ...
