So, in the interests of procrastination and a completely different project, dug out the Simplicity Patterns (9769) for Victorian (US Civil War era) underwear.
Found the fabric for the chemise and drawers - in the chest with the written out list of contents on top. Put the fabric in the wash cause couldn't remember if it had been done before. 33 degrees out and it should be drying fast, especially since it is cotton voile. In the mean time, gotten out the pattern pieces and am in the process of transfering to newspaper so can reuse. Checked the waist measurements on the drawers. Just as well, sizing on the back packet indicated my waist was a size 13 ie just off the packet scale, but on the advice from the Great pattern review on this pattern, dropped 2 sizes from what it recommended and found the waist (now size "8") a far better match. Given my bust is apparently already a size "8", hence scaling to a size "4", any corset is very definitely being mocked up first.
Back to newspaper.

Annoying newspaper but drawers now done. Will do chemise later when stopped swearing at newspaper and/or found better paper for transfering pattern to. I miss the large roll of paper from NZ.
Fabric now dry and ironed and ready for cutting out.
