Mmmm, cinnamon flavoured sugar high...
Oct. 20th, 2006 08:27 amI found books stores and lolly stores and...
Ok, lets restart this and take it above five year old level.
Wandered by the new place this afternoon - cleared out the junk collection from the mail box, checked things and watered the outside plants. Then, since had to bus in and out via the city centre, stopped, rambled and took a look around - mainly Rundle Mall and some small streets off it. Resisted Haigs and a couple other very nice chocolate stores (especially in the rather cool Adelaide Arcade), but gave in to the place in James Place - it had a glorious selection of cinnamon lollies. Resisted the cinnamon tictacs (had tried them in the the US and they were expensive anyway) and gum, but have two bags of cinnamon drops (one hot, one milder). They also stock the Cinnamon Altoids (
alpha_angel knows what I am refering to), which I got sort of addicted to in Canberra. No Whitticars there, but should find it elsewhere:).
Also didn't find the bookshop I posted the website for (which should have been in James Place). Did find 2 second hand bookstores - the best of which was Adelaide Booksellers. On par with some of the good Wellington second hand book shops. Was restrained and only picked up one book, though drooled over a exhibition book on Chinese Han and Tang dynasty (IIRC) stuff ($18, but they had a couple copies, so was just resistable).
Did find a good foodcourt place which did a very nice BBQ pork roll for $3. Good salad and with coriander and chillis and mmmm. Yay for the return of good tasting under $5 lunch possibilities when in town.
Then bussed back to discover I had missed
basal_surge online by about half an hour. Oh well. I'll save a couple of the cinnamon lollies for him...
