sweltering...
Jan. 13th, 2005 12:56 pmYou can tell that the American Astronomical Society is meeting this week- suddenly there are a rash of announcements of astronomical discoveries in the news:
Ultrasound for stars’ reveals stellar embryos
Giant raspberry blew pancake ripples
Astronomers identify trio of supergiant stars
And that is just from the NZ Herald...
First direct sighting of an extrasolar planet from New Scientist.
Stromlo just managed to get something on the front page of the Canberra Times, with a picture too (I think).
Team proves gravity shaped our galaxies (2dF red shift survey)
And finally, just because this one is so cool:)
Scientists unveil dinosaur-eating mammal. Also here New Scientist article MUNCH:)
EDIT: You can also spot the attention seeking headlines... Wonder who is responsible for those, especially the giant raspberry one...
