Gotta love that timing.
May. 23rd, 2006 11:12 amRe yesterdays computer issues.
Finally managed to get around things by making sure a specific f77 version was used (yay to other more experianced astronomers willing to hit their head against this brick wall). Great. But it only works on Solaris 5.8 and 5.9. And they are spending Thurs upgrading the 4 reccomended faster computers which ran Solaris 5.9 to guess what, 5.10.
Hence leaving the slow, clunky ones for running the program on ie back where we started.
Oh well.
I will settle for being able to increase the resolution so match calculations and plotting up observations.
Time to play with graphs. Lots of stacks of little lines all in a row...
Edit: May just be a hardware issue rather than Solaris version issue. Will pester people later. Graphs now.
And the oddball note from yesterday. 3 hot air balloons up in the sky yesterday morning. Lady in the bus commented that the last time she had seen a particular one of the lot, it had first attempted to land in a nearby grass oval, failed, then attempted to land in the nearby carpark, and failed and finally gotten entangled in trees nearby with loud ripping noises. Not a happy landing but apparently quite entertaining to the neighbours who all wandered out in pyjamas and dressing gowns to watch. Yesterday we were close enough to be able to see a large patch on the side. There may or may not have been more patches on other bits. And the advertising/logo on the balloon fabric?
Microsoft Windows.
