Ok, making elizabethan shirt now...
Using this site a lot as well as the Sture shirt pics and references.
Shoulders 17 inches across, so add 10 inches for fullness and cause 27 inches is annoying, round to 30 inches for seams etc.
Shoulder to thigh 26 inches, 27 including seams.
Sleeves:
Cuffs 6 1/2 inch diameter (yes my wrists are small)+1 inch for seams, aim for 2 inch wide cuff with 1 inch wide pleated cuff. Therefore 19 1/2 inch long for pleats + seam allowence.
Arm length about 25 inches (bent elbow), so add on 3 inches for room and seams, making it 28 inches. Use 26 inch wide over shoulders, gathered a bit to make 9 inches from armpit to shoulder, plus 4 inch square gussets. 3 inch triangular gussets in neck.
16 inches for collar around neck (+1 for seams). Again, 2 inch collar, 1 inch ruff. So, 48 inches for pleats +seam allowence.
NB Sture shirt has gathered in rather than pleated cuffs and collar. Linen is a bit stuff so I think the pleating will work better.
Some blackwork (pictures here, part way down) on the edges of the collar including outlining along the edge of the collar ruff (series of squares with an infill pattern). Can play with that once have pieces measured out - see what the spacing/thread count is for what I have measured out. Will skip the pulled thread detailing.
Cuffs gathered on plain with only the black edging to the ruffs.
Time to start cutting.
Edit: And finished cutting about 20 min later. Gosh how I like the way linen rips...
Now time to play with the neck slit or the collar decoration...
