Progress? Weekend in any case.
Aug. 15th, 2010 11:51 pmSo, blackworked chemise is finished. Possibly. It is if I leave it as something worn under early 16th C spanish ie don't gather in the sleeves at the cuff (if I remember correctly). But the odds of me putting together early 16th C spanish clothing is fairly low, so unlikely to get around to actually wearing it. I could decorate and do gathered cuffs (so you have ruff bits like Jane Seymour's (only smaller scale and in keeping with the blackwork already on) sticking out of the sleeves), but that would draw out the completion date a year or two or three and I think a decade for a project may be a bit much.
And after some spurt of ...well, I am not certain enthusiasm is quite the right word - more sheer bloody-mindedness, it is about to hit the usual 'enough is enough' stage and get ignored for a couple years. It is at least wearable now if I ever get around to making clothing I can wear it with.
Other bits of the weekend have also been mostly progressing things.
The lounge has been reorganized, with some book cases and most of the fiction relocated to the corridor and the rest of the bookcases partitioning off a study area in the lounge, which makes thing less gloomy corridor-like.
Much non-burnable wood and other rubbish was taken off to the tip.
alpha_angel had half a trailer load, we had half a trailer load and we only came out again with 4 little wooden containers.
We established that we had found a satellite with the dish and set box and we could get TV channels. Unfortunately none of these are NZ ones and are generally religious / Middle Eastern or random (and unfortunately not interesting random), so we think we have the wrong satellite. Need to work out what to do about that and I think that comes under the two steps forward, one step back category.
Failed to see the Petone fireworks (there was a hill in the way), but given we had only just walked down the hill from our place just in case, no great loss. Had nice dinner with Mum, Dad and

Now for some sleep before the week hits...
