The weekend report:

Sat: A cleaning and tidying day. Did get far enough that we were able to cut out the 3 8.1m long panels. Murphey's law that the fabric is just long enough that we need to open the lounge double doors to measure it and the fabric is just too wide to fit through the doors flat... Brainless evening surfing and Z watching Flight of the Phoenix and then getting distracted by the book til far too late.

Sun: Spin in/Hammer in at S&Ts. Many people. Finished Roman tunic :). Worked on wax tablets and got 3 carved out :). Then headed off to a nearby pub and dined and socialised with various Draka Nordica people (all MLH people). Much talking til ~11:30pm. Home and slept.

Mon: There were plans to be productive in the morning, but that never eventuated (never does :)). Afternoon was Operation Kracken. It was warm and sunny when we left home, raining as we got into town, had stopped by the time we reached the canoe hire place adn was warm and sunny for the rest of the afternoon. The lagoon by Frank Kitts Park and the Boat Sheds makes a really good battle venue, with very good ringside seats. 5 double canoes with 1.5 ALFs, 2.5 SCA/College people and 2 KAOS. And 2 onlookers (one of which was me). No capsizes, but some very soggy people at the end. Pith helmets and lifejackets make an interesting combo, especially the one with the diving mask as well... Then there was icecream and drying off in the sunlight.

The intention was to come home and work on tent, but not certain if either of us has the energy for that. We shall see...There should at least be threading up the machine and checking tensioning...

Edit: Tensioning ready to go. Now need to give Z some energy for laying out fabric, taping, and manhandling (fabric).

Cup of hot milk, Vittoria DARK drinking chocolate (found it in a Blenheim supermarket and picked up two tins after New Years), 3/4 capful of cinnamon schnaps (too strong to drink straight, but great with other stuff) makes a truely excellent hot chocolate. Like the Nestle Mexican drinking chocolate, only with a really nice dark chocolate and not the saccharine sweet too milky stuff...

And Top Gear has finished and Hornblower (The examination for Lieutenant) has started :)

Ah, the joys of unpicking tent seams... 1st seam started too. Oh well.

Edit: and after carefully cleaning out the gunk from the walking foot, Z is braindead and not up to attempting the seam again. It is 9:50pm... I could work on wax tablet carving instead...

4 wax tablet blanks carved this evening. Slightly faster and slightly tidier than yesterday and more of them. Do seem to average 15 min per tablet.

If can keep up 4 per night, should have a good stack for sale for CF.

Bed sleep now though. Work tomorrow.
