Or remember the sunscreen even on cloudy days when it is occasionally spitting, boys and girls...
Anyway, Harcourt Park Jousting 2009 (or what we did in the weekend)
Sat: Bit of a rush in the morning but made it out by 9am. Turns out they didn't need the poles. Oh well. Overcast, warm and muggy so a bit hot in wool, but once the southerly arrived later (2 or 3pmish?), was grateful for it. Generally spent the day sewing, socialising, occasionally talking to people, helped with the shoot the knight stall a little, watching the jousting and siege weapons and generally loitering... and bought a little inflatable dragon*. Z happily ranted at people about Vikings in the MLH Anglo-Saxon/Viking geteld part of the medieval village green of tents, and put small and not so small people into armour for photos to be taken. Started to drizzle a bit later on and by the time we left site (about 6pm), we drove into the more substantial rain heading for the park. Tried for Charcoal Chicken but the particular Upper Hutt place was shut, so went home, thudded and had a very early night - read til 10pm then was out like a light.
Sun: Less rushed and slightly later, but not by much. Still out by nineish. Z bought pens and paper and calligraphed people's names for them if they crossed his palm with gold. He also ranted to them about Viking stuff :). I finished sewing my roman breast band, did a little blackwork, socialised, watched siege weapons and jousting and generally loitered. The roast potatoes with chilli and beans were very nice for lunch. Ditto the chai latte's and the mini donuts. Didn't put on sunscreen because was overcast and occasional spitting out. Did put a veil on mid afternoon, but not early enough... Red faced now :( Got a warp-weighted loom and weights off Q from MLHNZ. Will play with that after CF** Left site 5:30pm ish - not so late and not nearly so buggered as yesterday. Still home and blobbing (and occasionally experimenting in breast band arrangement), though I might contemplate bringing the fabric in off the line and starting on the roman overtunic. I am probably safe to iron fabric... Measuring fabric may be a different thing...
* $3 each and very cute. He deflated overnight and is still crushed in the back of the car by the stuff we haven't packed but he was very cute.
** What is it about new toys and getting them right when you need to finish other stuff... Given the roman is sort of a spur of the moment thing, shouldn't add extra...
