I suspect a few people I know would be interested in this.
De Re Metallica: The Uses of Metal in the Middle Ages
ed by Robert Bork, Scott Montgomery, Carol Neuman De Vegvar, Ellen Shortell, Steven Walton.

I noticed it when googling for the following title on Iron smelting*
'Ore, Fire, Hammer, Sickle: Iron Production in Viking Age and Early Medieval Iceland' by Kevin Smith via a mention here, but it appears to be a 23 essay collection on a range of subjects related to metals. Apparently La Trobe Uni (Bundoora Campus, Borchardt Library) has a copy**.

Going for about $100 US on Amazon though. Ditto though its publisher (Ashgate). Though if you wish to drool more, check out their recent publishing catalogues. The Medieval Studies catalogue for 2007 (pdf, 960kB) has some very nice sounding, very expensive conference proceedings and books***.

* Yes, I chase up odd stuff, some of which Z is probably more interested than I but still...
** Another reason to go there, given the Viking Rus book [livejournal.com profile] pearl linked to.
*** Including one on "Studies in Medieval Astronomy and Optics" by (or ed) J. L. Mancha (2006) and one in "The Archeology of Medieval Bookbinding" by (or ed) J. A. Szirmai (2007) and ...

Edit: And Vic Uni library here has a copy (TS225.2 G3 D278). They also have a copy of the translation of the 1556 latin manuscript on the same subject of that name too (TN144 A278 D). Anyone know anyone with Victoria University library borrowing access?
