Jun. 5th, 2006 11:52 amOh good, the parrot seed has sprouted:) I have a new 2kg box, but I don't think I will go through it all in the next 4 weeks, otherwise there will be very fat parrots falling off the window ledge and waddling far more than usual.
Weekend ended up being fairly quiet.
Sat: Sat knowledge test for renewing Learner drivers license (100%:)). Unfortunately the paperwork and getting of new card can only be done between 9-5 Mon-Fri. Fortunately the bus will be an hour and a half late getting in on Thurs and Fri so I should be able to get things done on one of the days.
Then the day was lost in a haze of hair hennaing (more of a red/brown combo this time which actually matches the main bulk of hair more) and B5. Not exactly productive.
Sun: Culling the book collection. The sofa is now half covered in the large pile of mainly fiction we plan to get rid of. Lists will probably start appearing in various locations shortly. I should note though, that while I am happy enough to bring books over for family members, luggage space is limited so not much of it will be able to head back to NZ. Polit Baronial Day in the afternoon. I should really take a closer look at some documentable naalbinding stitchs (I am currently favouring organised series of knots, which while working, isn't as documentable as I would like). Also probably worth picking up NESAT 7 (2005 publication of the 1999 conference). It has a number of articles on Viking textiles including tablet weaving and Viking sails. Currently going for $40 US off Oxbow (cheaper than Amazon), but not certain what the shipping costs are. And I did buy a lot of books at Festival, so it may be one for next year. Z was very happy as he found a nearby liquor store which stocks Monteith's Black. He now has beer for a while I think.
And while all the Kiwis in NZ are enjoying the long weekend (medieval wool use and heating anyone?), we get Queen's Birthday next weekend (lucky lady appears to get several in various locations). Were debating whether it was worth a trip down to the coast - we still haven't gone yet, but Z is commited to junk clearance and forge establishment on Sat. That and the incentive of legal fireworks sales and setting off over the weekend, gives a good incentive to stay at home. I forsee some trips to Fyshwyk in the future. Last Queen's birthday, Z was in WA, and the time before that, we made a trip to NZ, so it will be nice to have a quiet one.
Time to get back to applying the now functioning convolution work. It would be nice to get reliable abundances for NGC 1866 #4 and HV2576.
