The theme for today is associated with my current concentration span...
Bloop...
I need to learn more computer programming stuff. Currently I am getting caught up /confused with which bits are the formating etc and which bits actually do useful stuff. For the past little while this has been editing fortran code to produce stellar spectra from particular pulsational and atmospheric models(1). Today it has been trying to get a shell script for applying heliocentric corrections to spectra(2), to work. In theory, I think I just need to change the paths and variable matching names so it reads in the correct things. In practice... thud... I would use another program, but it has already proved itself unable to read in the correct coordinates despite being told the correct bit to look at...

I just fail at getting the hamsters to obey commands...Come on, fetch, go on...

On more positive note, weekend was busy. Festival site prep weekend at Crossroads site. Shifted rocks, helped dig hole (a little), decided Australia gets too hot to work outside in (30+ degrees and little shade), laughed at people swimming in MURKY COLD dam water, went swimming in much nicer clean water (yay to friends with pools:), oiled a bridge (in much nicer cloudy conditions), passed on rocks, and looked at a sundial (here the lack of clouds was less useful). Found a Deli at Belconnon markets which now sells Biltong:) [Edit] Suceeded in not getting sunburnt. This is an important one...

Speaking of which, it's lunch time:)

(1) How well do you know your stellar astrophysics variables... in german...? 4th year lecture notes have helped but...
(2) Sodding earth moving around the sun and making things difficult (+/- up to 20km/s). Mind you when you add in recession velocity of the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (couple hundred km/s - need to check that) and the fact these little buggers pulsate (+/- ~60km/s or so - also need to check)
