Its that time of year to update the calander (ie pull off the past 6 months worth and print the next 7).
Things to note:
End of August is going to be a little Busy.
September, October and November look quiet bar Beorgwic on the Labour day weekend, at the start of Oct.
End of Dec/beginning Jan should be busy and bookings for flights need to be made now while $556 for a return flight Sydney - Christchurch for two people is still possible (VirginBlue).
Rest of January calm for now.
February 18 (aproximately) - Contract at Stromlo finishes.
March calm for now.
April: Festival.
Lease on house finished ~30 April (about a week and a half after Festival)
Future beyond that date: Haven't a fucking clue... bar the fact that it will involve a Z...

Gotta love that having no clue. I can't even imagine finishing my thesis right at this point let alone what I might do with myself if I ever manage to finish it. The whole prospect of applying for jobs just makes me feel ill.

At least you will have a couple of months to wind down, reflect, relax and make a plan.

Unfortunately the window for applying for postdoc positions for next year starts now... And looking at the online astronomical job listing, there ain't much out there for variable star observers.
Combined cafe and bookshop near a university is sounding more and more tempting.

If you have spare time coming up can you explain to me how I can code up a software equivalent of a nautical almanac?
