That garment was the inspiration for my bliaut (the decoration, not the cut) which it occurs to me you won't actually have seen... hang on, here's a picture:

The gold is couched embroidery... I don't know if you can get those gold tube bead thingies these days but I imagine it would cost the earth to get enough. Pearls around the outside are 2.5mm fake plastic ones.

It kinda looks a bit naff too close up actually because of the plastic-ness of the pearls.
