Having set up the wireless network a while back, it has taken a while to get to the decadent stage of sitting in bed with the laptop listening to youtube (failing on internet radio due to out of date flash), while Z uses the main machine to read up on Popski's army...

Should remember to get some sleep at some point though.

The plan for this weekend hopefully will involve some gardening. Eying up some hanging planters for growing upside/hanging plants given we have definite suspicions abut the soil and are a bit worried about whatever herbicide the previous owner used to blitzkrieg the place into shape. That and lots of treated timber retaining walls which my be iffy to plant edible stuff beside, means that we are aiming for box beds, hanging baskets and pots to begin with...

Strawberry tower/pillar and a herb tower would be good.
And definitely a lemon tree.
And I have been envying the huge tree sized rhododendrons currently in bloom up and down the street - but ones that huge and glorious take a bit of a while.

Plenty of time to plan tomorrow.

I have Peniakof's book on PPA, but it seems that one needs the less-well-known books by other members such as Bob Yunnie to get a more balanced view.

What inspired Zane to take an interest?

A suggestion from one of my workmates on growing strawberries - if you have a sunny chunk of fence, mount a length of guttering with some holes drilled in the bottom, and plant your strawberries in that. The strawberries grow hanging over the edge of the gutter, and it's really easy to mount bird netting if you have problems with them nicking your berries. Makes me wish I had a handy fence.
