(no subject)

Lazy evening this evening, with no swimming, though did do 24 lengths on Tues evening. Was good, even if we didn't get a chance to soak in the spa afterwards.

Instead I have just spent much of the evening in a warm bath with a good book. Hadn't actually done that before - I think had been worried I might get the book. Now I know I can manage not to :)

Think I'll get an early night and finish the rest of the book - LM Montgomery Emily of New Moon binge. Finished Emily of New Moon a day or two ago, am most of the way though Emily Climbs, and will start Emily's Quest shortly after that... Z is looking at me strangely for it, but I am alternating with Stross and Russian urban vampires.

I love Emily of New Moon. I also like Jane of Lantern Hill quite a lot, but there's only one of those.

It's funny, I've met lots of people who really love the Anne books, but have never read any of her other stuff.
And, I think, despite Anne having being a sort of childhood hero, that in many ways the Emily books are better.

I see nothing wrong with interesting book juxtapositions - it provides nice contrast.

I read all the Anne books first but definitely spent some time after tracing down many of the rest. I think I have all her novels (now brought out from storage) bar "Magic for Marigold" and I have read that one*. I do like The Blue Castle and a bunch of the others.

* And it is apparently available on Project Gutenburg according to Wikipedia. I know they have a bunch of her books there, as it was the main way I was getting a fix while in Aussie.

a hot bath, a good book and a nice glass of wine is heavenly :)
